Meaning of XP in Windows XP


XP is extracted from English language word ‘experience’. It means to have some experience with new windows of Microsoft. Windows XP has two editions. One is professional and the other is home edition. In professional XP, there are some additional features which are not present in home edition. This window comprises of two windows; NT and 2000.


Windows XP Home Edition:

It provides support to many users because all the users are administrators so there is no method with limited authority to make users accounts. Hence there is no any mechanism to save the privacy of other users. Built in features also support the networking in this edition of windows XP.


Windows XP Professional Edition: 

It provides security for many users along with many profiles supports. In this window, one user is administrator i.e. he has authority to change the users and also access all the files of all the user accounts.
Professional edition includes following parts which are not present in XP home edition:

2)      Boot configuration manager
3)      Drive recovery
4)      NTFS encryption utility
5)      Offline files and folders
6)      Open files
7)      Performance manger
8)      Remote desktop
